(MP2) Project 6A: Birthday Card
Step 1
Step 2
Final Product
I started this project by downloading the happy birthday png and opening it with photoshop. I used the eyedropper tool to select the six primary rainbow colors from the happy birthday image, and saved them as swatches in a folder titled "Ezra". With these colors, I created a 3 color radial gradient with magenta, cyan and yellow titled "Ezra Gradient", and put it in the background of the happy birthday. I then created a brush using the "Splatter ktw 3 1" brush setting and making the spacing 20%. I used dark purple, green and cyan from my custom swatch folder and pained aesthetic lines in front of the gradient but behind the happy birthday image. I then created three shapes, a hexagon, rectangle and triangle. In the hexagon, I used my custom green swatch and filled it in completely; In the rectangle, I created a custom reflected gradient with my custom cyan combined with black and white; In the triangle, I went into the pattern menu and chose the grass pattern to put inside of it. Finally, I created a pattern to go across the entire background. To do this, I created a long triangle shape and used a preset gradient from the blues section to fill it in. I used the select tool to highlight the whole thing, and went into the pattern menu and clicked create pattern. Then, on a separate layer, I clicked on the edit menu on the top and filled in the layer with the custom pattern. My main takeaway is that gradients are extremely useful and can greatly echance the quality of any creative photoshop project.
