(MP3) Popsicle Animation w/MP3 Semester Reflection

Image
My favorite tutorial was the changing perspective one. I liked that one the most because it wasn't too bad, taught a useful skill and had a very cool end product. The most challenging tutorial was the butterfly glow one because I had trouble selecting the butterflies to apply the gaussian blur to them. My favorite project was Project 7: Blending Modes because I was able to incorporate the funny pictures I took while on my trip to frost valley, and it was straightforward to create. My key takeaway for the entire course is that amazing things can be created with the use of photoshop, and knowing how to work the armada of tools is important for creating a polished, finished product.

(MP3) Project 8: AI Assisted Design

Image
First I found a beautiful picture of India to use as the background of my image. I took a picture of myself in the hallway and added it to the image. I used the remove background AI tool to remove the background, leaving just myself, then used the harmonize tool to blend me seamlessly into the image. I used the spot healing tool to remove the graphic design from the t-shirt to give me a plain shirt. I then used the smart filter of lens blur to blur the background slightly. Next, I added an image of an “I ♥️ India” logo, and removed the background using the AI tool. I aligned it to fit onto the shirt, then used the harmonize tool to blend it into my t-shirt. The harmonize tool helped me make the project by blending the images together and making it seem more realistic. My main takeaway is that the photoshop AI tools are very convenient and can make an image quite easy to create.

(MP3) Project 7: Blending Modes

Image
I started this project out by using a picture of a landscape from my recent ASR trip to Frost Valley. I then resized the canvas size (Image -> Canvas Size), and resized it from a 5x7 to a 7x5 ratio. I resized the image to correctly fit this canvas. I then placed 3 images of my friends sleeping at the top of the image, and applied the blending modes “Linear Light”, “Luminosity” and “Hard Mix” onto one each respectively. I placed an image of my friends on the bus in the bottom left corner, and used spot healing to remove the damage on the bus seats and my friend’s goatee. I placed an image of me and two of my friends around a campfire, and converted it to a smart object to add a smart filter on it to show a ripple effect. I finally added another picture of my friend sleeping, duplicated it, and selected an area to add a layer mask to allow me to ch...

(MP2) Project 6B: Gradient Last Name

Image
I started with adding the text of my last name and making it fit the entire screen. I created a six color gradient  (shown above) and set this gradient as the color of the text. I went into the layer style of the text and added a  13px black border outside the text, as well as adding a smooth inner bevel onto the text. I then created a  rainbow gradient and added a small text of my first name with that gradient, then selected it and added it as a  pattern across the entire background. I used my previous black-cyan-white gradient as the very back background  layer across the entire image. I created a brush with style “kyle drag mixed greys” with 70% spacing, and added  patterned brush strokes in pink, blue and green in the background. I added an elephant shape with an iridescent  preset gradient, a boat with a solid red fill color, a blue star with a water pattern onto it, and I added a large  hexagon with my face on it by crea...

(MP2) Project 6A: Birthday Card

Image
Step 1   Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 4 Step 5 Final Product I started this project by downloading the happy birthday png and opening it with photoshop. I used the eyedropper tool to select the six primary rainbow colors from the happy birthday image, and saved them as swatches in a folder titled "Ezra". With these colors, I created a 3 color radial gradient with magenta, cyan and yellow titled "Ezra Gradient", and put it in the background of the happy birthday. I then created a brush using the "Splatter ktw 3 1" brush setting and making the spacing 20%. I used dark purple, green and cyan from my custom swatch folder and pained aesthetic lines in front of the gradient but behind the happy birthday image. I then created three shapes, a hexagon, rectangle and triangle. In the hexagon, I used my custom green swatch and filled it in completely; In the rectangle, I created a custom reflected gradient with my custom cyan combined with black and white; In the triang...

(MP2) Project 5B: AP Flyer Artboard

Image
Desktop   Instagram Phone Phone Firstly, I had the idea to do a classroom, and display all of the APs on the chalkboard. I went onto google and found a cartoonish classroom with a large chalkboard to fit all of the classes there. The next thing I did was add the title “AP Fair” to the chalkboard, and convert text to shape and free transform path for each letter to put it into a curved pattern. Then I added a white rectangle on the bookcase to serve as the base for a little blurb of text describing what APs I am taking next year. Following that, I added the date and time of the fair in red, so that the color would contrast with the off-white background and be easier to see. I then artificially extended the chalkboard below by making a new, mini chalkboard, which I put the additional information regarding the fair. One of the last steps was to add all of the APs into the central chalkboard, which took a bit of effort to make it look right with the text. I ended up settling on the two...

(MP2) Project 5A: Flyer Remake

Image
I added a color overlay to the background layer to make it dark cyan, and added a black rectangle to cover all but the outside edges of it. Inside, I added a sky blue rectangle to be the background of the rest of the slide, and I added a masked image of a rocket on top of it. I then added a masked tree-line to the bottom and moved it to be behind the trees, and I masked an image of Carl from the movie Up and placed him inside of the rocket. I used a series of black and cyan rectangles to cover up errors in the borders and make sure the scene stayed inside of the box. Finally, I added a large title saying “ASR Rocket Group” in the font DIN Condensed, which serves as my overarching theme of the image, and a subtitle saying “Join Now” in Athelas font, serving as my call to action. My main takeaway is that using a bunch of small assets to perfect the image is a good idea and it is especially important to organize them by group.
